The Realist

Cycloptics Model "R" Black

Initially designed for Francis as a prop for his film, Bill Vernon decided to build functionality into the device after he finished the housing. Thus, the fake model became an early working prototype with two bi-focal lenses aided by a small Central Processing Unit.

The Realist was named for Francis' desire to see a grounded, realistic two-eyed view of the world. His film ended up depicting an ultimate dissatisfaction with that view, though, and this model became one of the last of the Cycloptics to attempt such reality. Bill and Francis abandoned that approach for a more abstract, experimental one.
