Lina Rae's Telephone

Rotary Telephone

One of the few possessions Lina Rae Pearson brought with her to the country home where she was put up by her publisher. This phone served as her only source of communication with world. Otherwise, she maintained an extremely isolated lifestyle similar to that of her childhood.

Underneath the phone, she kept a paper with only a handful of telephone numbers written down: Francis and Bill, her publisher, a friend referred to only by the letter "Z," and both of her parents. She rarely called her parents, and never called anyone who wasn't on the list.
