Francis couldn't be trusted with expensive optical devices on his own because of his tendency to submerge everything in water for fun. So Bill designed this cheap waterproof camera with plastic housing. Cycloptical parts could easily be swapped out. It could be beat up to no end (and it was).
Bill tried a digital imaging model of the Singlex, but strangely found that sensors were far less sensitive to multi-dimensional phenomena than film, so 35mm film remained the medium of choice for their work.
