Warren kept this gyroscope at his desk, and frequently used it as a method of hypnotism with his patients, swinging it like a pendulum and inducing the hypnotic state.

He also trained himself to be hypnotized by the action of the spinning gyroscope on his desk, but was secretly unable to successfully get it to spin himself. He would get Bill to put it into motion for him, and then he would enter a trance. Bill would use the opportunity to take back all of the office supplies Warren had lifted from his own study.
