Pen on Gridded Paper

Quite possibly inspired by Bill Vernon's own schematics and notations for invented devices, Francis frequently stole paper from the pads on Bill's desk and began charting his own abstract lines in pen. When questioned about the designs he came up with Francis said that the force with which he pressed the pen indicated the shape of his illustration, not the lines drawn by the pen.
