Collection Three . Early Vision Artworks
Unusually commercial and organized in style, Francis' collage work remains a mystery. With the scissors, he seemed able to trace lines that he could never trace with a pen or even just with his finger. With stamps and ink pads, he created symmetry without even being able to see it himself. These visions, because the source materials are so much more familiar to us, appears less abstract, though to Francis it was completely about the overall shape and texture, and not the persons depicted.
